Northantshe

Type of service:
Forums And Support Networks
Service description:
NorthantsHE is a local, informal and friendly group of home educating families who meet up regularly for activities and mutual support. The group welcomes home-educating families in and around Northamptonshire and also enquiries from families who are considering home education.

We are a mixed, secular, non-hierarchical, inclusive group and we all have different styles of educating our children. The group itself operates through an informal yahoo group (email list) and facebook group of which membership is required (it’s free to join) and that’s how information, resources and events are shared, as well as just being a place to chat and ask questions. We also maintain a Facebook page.

There are over 80 active home-educating families in the county, with children of all ages and key stages. Some of them are just starting out (with little ones or secondary school age), some are doing GCSEs/IGCSEs etc…

For informal advice about dealing with Northamptonshire County Council with regards to home education, please visit our “dealing with the LA” section. There are also plenty of home educators on the yahoo and facebook groups who would also be happy to help new home-educating families to find their feet.
