Service description:
Disagreement resolution and mediation are positive ways of solving problems. The process aims to improve communication and help with negotiation.

Disagreement Resolution is completely voluntary and aims to prevent disagreements from escalating further. It applies when there is a disagreement about the performance of duties, for example how local authorities or schools are implementing a statement or EHC plan
about the special educational provision for a child whether or not they have a statement or EHC plan.

Mediation applies where parents and young people wish to make an appeal to the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Tribunal. Parents and young people will soon be required to consider mediation before submitting their appeal to the Tribunal in the hopes that disagreements can be resolved quickly and amicably.
