Service description:
At Bedford College we believe that our fantastic College environment should be inclusive to everyone and so, for our deaf students, we have a wide range of services designed to allow you to participate fully in College life.

If you have a specific learning difficulty or disability, problems with English and Maths, are deaf or hearing impaired, or missing the essential skills needed to complete your course, our Additional Learning Support team are on hand to give you assistance whenever you need it.

Our committed team can provide you with:
•the skills you need to make your assignments fantastic
•specialist equipment, adapted course material and other resources, including an Assistive Technology Centre which has specialist equipment and software designed to make your learning experience as productive as possible
•special exam arrangements if required
•support with accessing the College
•dyslexia, hearing and visual support specialists

We have a specialist ‘Deaf Team’ who work tirelessly to ensure that the College is meeting the needs of our deaf students, our support includes:
•BSL and SSE communicators
•Electronic and manual note takers
•Deaf student mentor
•Deaf coordinator
•Teacher for the D/deaf
•One to one support
•Specialist Deaf Team
•College wide Deaf Awareness delivered to all staff
We are also accredited by Action on Hearing Loss, from whom we have received the 'Louder than Words' charter mark.
