Service description:
RNIB College Loughborough is a specialist residential college recruiting people with sight loss and other disabilities aged 16 – 65 from all over the UK, although most are from Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire.

Learners have a wide range of disabilities including sight loss, learning disabilities, autism, Asperger's Syndrome, communication problems, physical disabilities, chronic illness and hearing loss. Most have more than one, although not all learners have a sight loss. Over the last 5 years there has been a major shift towards learners with greater levels of disability, which has transformed the College in many ways. The Stan Bell Centre is registered as a care home. For most learners a high priority is developing their independent living skills.

The main aim of the College is to prepare people for as fulfilling an adult life as possible by maximising independence. This includes:

- Progression to an occupation such as paid employment, voluntary work, mainstream education or active involvement in community activities
- As independent a life-style as possible in own housing or a family home
