Service description:
The Abbeyfield Satellite is a unique provision based on a mainstream secondary school site. All the pupils are statemented or have an EHCP, however, they are working at a level where they can integrate into mainstream classes as appropriate. The pupils are all on the roll of Billing Brook School and are taught and managed by specialist staff employed by the school.

We provide opportunities for structured integration with the mainstream secondary setting, whilst also offering a purpose built provision with 4 classrooms and an ICT suite.

Our pupils will have been identified as needing the following:

•Access to daily structured teaching following a differentiated curriculum based on a small step approach.
•To be taught in small class groups with access to individual teaching.
•Access to mainstream peer group models and facilities.
•A consistent, structured environment with secure, explicit boundaries, with opportunities to broaden experience and practise learning in a negotiated mainstream setting.
Teaching takes place in flexible settings. This may be working within the provision as an individual, in small groups or in the larger class group. It also includes working alongside peers using the facilities that the Abbeyfield Campus and the main Billing Brook Penistone Road site have to offer.
