Service description:
Our service offers a residential respite facility for children with disabilities who have either a diagnosis of autism, complex health needs and/or complex behaviour. This is a specialist service covering the full age range up to 18 years and provides a structured environment and nursing care. It offers parents and carers the opportunity to ‘recharge their batteries’ in the knowledge that their child is in a safe, supportive and stimulating environment.

The Squirrels is a six-bed bungalow in Rushden, offering residential short breaks and overnight care service for children with disabilities who have complex health needs and/or complex behaviour.

Short breaks are not usually longer than three to four days in any one stay, with the maximum seven overnights in any month. We work in partnership with all statutory and voluntary agencies including schools, day centres, care agencies, the county council and health services. We also work very closely with parents and carers to ensure continuity of care.
