Service description:
Problems can affect anybody at any time. There is no shame in needing, or asking for help to get through a difficult patch.

As a professional counsellor I have been trained to listen to your problems sensitively and with an open mind, to understand as fully as possible what is concerning you and how it's affecting your life. Without judging you or offering advice, counsellors can become more aware of what resources you have in place for coping and discovering healthier ways of dealing with difficult feelings, people or situations.

The fact that you have come to me for counselling, as well as anything you tell your counsellor, remains confidential.

Confidentiality is important in therapy. I adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics on confidentiality and would only consider breaking that confidentiality if:

There was disclosure of ongoing abuse/neglect of a child or vulnerable adult.

If it was considered that a client was a danger to him/herself or to others.

In situations where there is a legal obligation to do so (e.g. under the Terrorism Act 2000)

A counsellor would normally first discuss the situation with the client, encourage him/her to participate in the disclosure and support them in doing this.

I will not discuss what occurs in your therapy except in supervision (in accordance with the BACP Code of Ethics).
