Service description:
Mayday Trust gained accreditation from the National Open College Network in September 2013 and is now offering recognised qualifications for a range of formal and informal training. Accredited learning not only builds confidence, but can provide a pathway to employment for individuals. Courses are available to anyone accessing services from Mayday.

A significant achievement for Mayday Trust, the accreditation forms a central plank in our new service model. We aim to build a network of partner organisations and individuals interested in receiving accredited training.

Reaching out to young parents
To encourage personal development and build confidence in young parents, Mayday Trust offered sessions on skills ranging from creative thinking and healthy eating to job searching and interview techniques. Many of the participating young people aged 16-25 had never been to a job interview and felt they had no employable skills. In this pilot programme in the Blackthorn area of Northampton, Mayday reached out to help them discover and define their abilities, and complete CVs. Young parents were given 'tools for the job' including CV templates, interview questions and information about local opportunities.
