Service description:
Home-Start believes that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents play the key role in giving their children a good start in life and in helping them reach their potential. The scheme works to ensure the safety and well-being of children and their parents within the Borough of Wellingborough.
The scheme supports families through difficult times, offering friendship, practical help, a listening ear, reassurance and encouragement, and help in accessing and using other local groups and services. This results in supported families being less isolated, better equipped to care for their children and more able to play a positive role in the wider community.
In 2011-12 , 47 families received home-visiting support and a further 42 accessed our family support group. A total of 224 children were supported during this time, of whom 115 were under 5. The majority of families for whom support ended during the year reported that, due to Home-Start input, the areas of need for which they accessed the scheme had markedly improved or were no longer an issue.
