Service description:
Sure Start Children’s Centres are central to the Government child poverty and health inequalities reduction agenda. Local authorities work under Children’s Trust arrangements to lead a strategy for improving outcomes for families with children aged 0-5 year olds, as outlined in Every Child Matters (DfSC 2003), being framed within the Children Act 2004 legislative framework.

Children’s Centres deliver against national and local government priorities and are performance managed across a range of criteria, including levels of access to the service, including a specific emphasis on access of the most disadvantaged families.

Children’s Centres deliver and signpost to a range of universal and targeted services, activities and support networks, in response to need.

The overall aim is to help children, and their parents/carers, to achieve their full potential; to lead healthy lives and prosper in education, training and employment.
