What is the Northamptonshire Social Work Academy? We have revolutionised the way we work within our Children’s Services and launched the academy to guide and steer newly qualified social workers through that crucial first year of practice. Only the most promising and passionate advocates of children and young people will be selected to take part in this year long intensive support and mentoring programme. The academy programme will be refreshed for the 2018 intake with a renewed focus on best practice. Our aim is for you to feel both valued and supported in an environment that places a real emphasis on developing quality in social work practice. What to expect from the Northamptonshire Social Work Academy Let’s face it, being a social worker is not an easy job. You will need to be a social work graduate with the following attributes: • A passion to improve the lives of children • Ambition and motivation • You must be committed to continuously developing your social work practice • Have pre-qualified children’s social care work experience • Be degree qualified in Social Work • Be up to date with current legislation/policy/procedures around child protection • Able to work under pressure, excellent organisational ability; and • Have knowledge/understanding of using appropriate assessment tools and research. Please note; you will need to be available to attend an assessment centre in the week commencing 14th May 2018 and available to start with us on 28th August 2018, when the next cohort joins the academy.
