"My child has a great time at rhymetime. It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the cheery children's part of the library. I think it is great that this is provided for our children for free. Thank you!"

What are Rhymetimes?

Sessions last between 20 minutes and half an hour. They are friendly, informal sessions where you can join in with action nursery rhymes and songs.

  • Rhymetimes are a good for helping with your child's language development.
  • By using simple musical instruments and performing action songs babies develop language and rhythm.
  • They are an opportunity for you to learn some new rhymes to share at home with your child.

Some libraries have separate Bounce and Rhyme Times.

  • Bounce and Rhyme Time sessions are aimed at babies and non-walkers. It is a gentle, supportive and fun first activity which introduces nursery rhymes and songs to parents to interact with their baby.

For more information about these sessions please contact your local library.

Join the Chatterbox Challenge

I CAN's Chatterbox Challenge is an annual fundraising activity for nurseries, children's groups, parents and childminders.

Children aged 0-5 have fantastic fun and develop their communication skills by singing songs and rhymes to raise money for children who struggle with their speech and language.
