Services at all libraries

The library shop sells a variety of items, including books, postcards and greetings cards.

Get involved!

There's more to the library than you think. Lots of our services for the community rely on support from our volunteers. What could you do?

How do you become a volunteer?

Search the Get Involved Hub for all current library volunteering vacancies.

You can apply online to register your interest in an opportunity. There is an interview process and all successful volunteers will be asked to supply details of referees. Volunteers for some roles are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

We will provide any training that is necessary to assist in volunteering roles.

Concessionary bus passes are available at your local library.

To find out more, visit our bus pass section.

Blue badges can be applied for and received at your local library.

Answers Plus

Answers Plus is the Libraries and Information Service's online information service. We welcome questions from anyone who lives, works or studies in Northamptonshire, or who would like information about the county.

Your local library needs you!

We are in challenging and changing times and libraries are rapidly becoming even more indispensable to their local communities through the development of LibraryPlus.

We are proud of the success of our libraries in Northamptonshire but continue to need your support.

26 of our libraries have Friends Groups and they have made a real difference to their communities through holding events and bringing LibraryPlus to more people in the area.

When we consulted on the Libraries Strategy, 82% of respondents told us they would be willing to make a financial contribution to the Library Service, and we also know that people want to support the service for different reasons.

Friends Groups

Friends are a group of people who value the role of LibraryPlus and who want to make a difference in their community. We aim to have a Friends Group supporting each of our 36 libraries.

If your local library does not yet have an active group, please ask the Library Manager about helping to get a group started.

Sign up now by asking at your local library and we hope you will allow us to pass your details on to your local Friends Group so that they can keep you informed of their activities.
