Description of scheme
This scheme seeks to enable development in the 104 hectare Northampton Waterside Enterprise Zone by increasing the capacity of the congested southern inner ring road and by improving access to the site so that marketability of the development sites is enhanced. The St. Peter's Waterside site has capacity to deliver 43,000 square metres of high quality office space, including the £7.5m Innovation Centre and £20m Castle Station redevelopment that have already been built.
Works at Black Lion Hill adjacent to Northampton Castle railway station were completed in spring 2014 and works on Towcester Road, including Towcester Road/St Peter's Way roundabout in April 2015.
Work to complete the footways outside the Innovation Centre and railway station is currently on site and due to be completed by the end of May 2016.
The scheme will also encourage wider development opportunities in the Enterprise Zone and town centre.

Benefits of the scheme
The scheme has increased the capacity of the inner ring road to improve access to the Enterprise Zone, to encourage investment and marketability of the development sites.
No further consultation will be undertaken.
Scheme cost and how it will be funded
The scheme cost is £6.95m with funding from South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership, Northampton Borough Council and the Government’s Local Pinch Point Fund.
Timeline of key events
Completion of footway works is anticipated early 2016.
