Assist with one-off and regular sessions for groups of children (from 5 years upwards). The sessions will include a variety of activities such as crafts and games (Art sessions, knitting, comic book clubs, Manga groups, coding clubs, etc.). All materials are provided. You can either lead a session or help to support staff and other volunteers. This role is for flexible times, for occasional events, but during normal Library opening hours.
The Library to You service offers anyone who can’t get to a library, due to age, illness or disability, a personal library service: with a volunteer delivering a range of books, talking books, music and information selected according to their own preferences. Our customers value the social contact with volunteers.
Are you looking for a really rewarding volunteering opportunity? Do you want to give something back to your local community? Would you like to make a difference to a child's reading ability and their overall attainment in school? By becoming a volunteer reading helper you can make an outstanding contribution to a child's reading ability, self-confidence, love of reading and overall school work. Beanstalk mentors help three children each for three terms by providing sustained one-to-one literacy support to children who are falling behind the expected reading level for their age.
Share your IT skills by helping library customers who struggle to use computers or the internet to gain IT knowledge and skills. You don’t have to be an expert, just be able to show people how to use a computer on a day-to-day basis (for example, internet shopping, accessing email, etc.)
