What is our role?
In a nutshell, we help make information as accessible as possible to all our customers. We look after all the library webpages and e-library resources. This includes our online subscription services such as: Ancestry (for Family History research), the British Newspaper Archive, Encyclopaedia Britannia and many more. We monitor our public library catalogue and also coordinate our e-book, e-magazine, e-audio book and music downloads services. We also have responsibility for any digital promotion of the library services through our social media accounts – facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram, the library digital signage screens and online events calendar. As part of the Business and Intellectual Property Centre Northamptonshire, we support people as they take their first steps into self-employment by providing advice, online resources and workshops.
What is our background?
We are all qualified librarians with many years experience working in public libraries.
What do we enjoy about working for the library service?
We all love the variety of our role and the people we meet. We cover all libraries in Northamptonshire and not only help the public but are also involved in staff training too.
What inspires us the most?
As a team, it’s the real difference the services we offer make to people’s lives; whether it’s helping people start a successful business after attending one of our workshops, or just downloading an eBook for the first time. Working for a service that really does help people across all sectors of the community is very rewarding.
